Materials for tomorrow

Our goal is to become the leading provider of innovative and traceable materials from aquaculture industry in Norway. We strive to create sustainable input factors for various customer segments by sorting and handling bio-based materials from the ocean.

Supply chain management

Norskin has become experts in recycling valuable sidestreams from three stages of the salmon value chain, leaving nothing to waste. We collect biomasses through the use of modern equipment, container fleets, and transportation solutions.

These valuable materials are then conveyed for:

  • Production of exclusive leather materials.

  • Extraction of marine gelatins and bio-binders

  • Producers of fish oil and protein concentrate

Why is this important?

Several industries are facing increased consumer pressure regarding environmental impact. At the same time fish producers have an abundance of by-products from their food production which is not fully utilized.

There are increasing expectations for traceability, responsible chemical usage, reduced emissions, and lower energy and water consumption in the production of leather and leather products. The aquaculture industry is facing increasingly stricter requirements for handling waste streams.

These are demands that are currently not adequately met by tanneries. Norskin aims to develop its production line and concept to meet these market and quality requirements, and establish a more environmentally friendly production.

Exotic leather constitues 17 % of the world wide leather market size and is worth 1153 million USD (2022)

Uncover our red flags.

  • While Norskin has a strong network up to the point where the material is tanned and processed, it lacks connections in the final stage of the value chain, which involves reaching the end consumer.

  • The product is not yet fully developed or defined, and the production processes are still in development. Additionally, there is a lack of sales and marketing tools, which may slow down the path to commercialization.

  • The ongoing R&D projects consume a significant amount of employee time and could potentially divert attention from essential operational tasks and commercialization efforts.
