Catheterization, vital for urinary health, faces persistent flaws. Let's uncover the issues and a potential groundbreaking solution for women's catheterization.

Why is this important?

Efficient catheterization is critical for women's urinary health and overall patient care. Using one hand, the nurse must separate the labia from each other and hold them throughout the procedure. If the hold is lost, the procedure must be restarted with new equipment to ensure aseptic insertion. This is an intimate and uncomfortable situation for the patient. A passive caregiver will assist the nurse during the procedure to act as a helper and help ensure sterile admission. Due to differences in female anatomy and time constraints, there may be reasons why the procedure is not performed sterile.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) account for 40% of all healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).

Up to 80% of hospital-acquired UTIs are associated with the use of urinary catheters.

The solution

In the area of healthcare innovation, a new solution is on the horizon that promises to transform the landscape of women's catheterization.  Sulacare, born from a nurse's firsthand experience, is innovating catheterization to address inefficiencies and challenges, currently in the process of obtaining CE approval and a patent to enhance female catheterization.
